Kx500 -85 gearbox problem

The problem is that i can shift gears when the engine is not running,
but when i start it and try to shift it gets stuck between the gears,
then i cannot get back in gear and have to turn it off and shift.
does anyone know what the problem might be?

Does the shifter lever go back to center position? I not you may have a broken return spring. Otherwise it sounds like you have a shifter fork problem. Maybe bent or worn out of tolerance. Sounds like you will have to crack it open................Sorry! :-( :-( :evil: :evil: :evil: :x :x :x :cry: :cry:

yes the shifter lever does go back to center position, i will just have to take it a part
and take a look at the shifter forks then   :-(

Does this happen when you come to a stop in a high gear like fourth or fifth?

yes it does, well it really doesn?t matter if i stop or if i am rolling i still can?t
get back in gear unless i turn off the engine.
