How to melt a gas tank 101:

(1/1)

Platypus:
So I melted a tiny pin hole in my tank this weekend.  Saturday afternoon we are sitting around talking and someone points out that my tank is awfully close to my pipe.  To which I reply, "Yeah I think the same thing".  He tells me to shim it up when I get a chance.  Now keep in mind it has been this way since I bought it and I have ridden it about a dozen times.  Sunday after the race I am loading the bike and notice the leak.  The first thing I thought is, "thank god it didn't catch on fire" while I was on it or off it.  So word to the wise watch that distance between those two because 1/2 inch is not good enough :p.

BigGreenMachine:
Could have been much worse, glad everything is ok. Stock tank?

Platypus:
It was an IMS 3.6 gallon screw cap tank.  I have two stock tanks but they are kinda useless for my style of riding.  I shouldn't have any problems getting a used one from someone soon though.
