Hello everyone, this appears to be a great site full of great info, it should be a valuable source of information for all of us new to the experience of being thrown over backwards by the mighty KX500. Anyway, even though I have been riding street bikes since 1981, I have not riden a dirt bike since 1984 and have never riden a KX5. I just bought a 1990 KX500 from the original owner, it's in very nice shape. It has a Pro Circut pipe, skid plate, desert tank, Pro Taper bars, Excel rims and all the original parts came with it. the only issue is, a $3.00 snap ring was broke in the transmission so I have the motor split. the parts should be in today and hope to ride it for the first time this weekend. I was once a service Manager for a Kawasaki dealer in the Seattle area so the repair that was needed did not concern me. $500.00 for the bike seemed fair. I bought the bike from a gentleman in Oregon, when I transfered the title in Washington I told the lady I needed a license plate, she did not hesitate and gave me a plate. I already installed a lighting coil, headlight, tail/stop light and a horn. In Washington in order to legally ride on fire service roads the vehicle has to be street legal. The KX should be kick in the A** on fire roads.
