Liquid Nitrogen

Anyone ever used liquid nitrogen to free stuck bolts, etc.?

I've been curious about this for some time...

 No, I have not used  Liquid Nitrogen, I think it would work since it is about 200 degrees below zere, that should thermal shock anything, much like the opposite of using a torch and heating the rusty bolt.   Where would you even buy liquid nitrogen ?  There is probably a safety issue here since it will actually freeze your skin off , but then again the torch could burn your skin off.
  If you ever try this, please tell me how it works.  John

Ya I keep it under my bench, right beside the drill press.  Just in case!!?

Well, the two projects for which I was going to use the liquid nitrogen have been solved in other ways--but it's still on my list to try sometime.

It appears that one might be able to get some from Air Liquide or some other type of Industrial Gas / Welding supply, but it also appears that the expensive and prohibitive part is getting the Dewar (high-zoot Thermos) to transport and store it.

Just thought I'd check to see if anyone had already messed with it.

I have been heating and freezing parts for years, but Liquid Nitrogen is a bit radical for me.  :lol: :lol:
