Get your jetting perfect and you will not have any problems at all. I was burning 4 stock tanks a day running drag and after getting my jetting on spec, I was running 1 and sometimes 1 and a half.

:-) my first kx5,which i owned 2 years ago (supermoto trim and road registered,as is my latest one) used to squeeze 40 miles of hard country lane riding....or maybe 43 to the tank if i took it easy, these beasts really do have a thirst.. :-D

I definitely need to look at the jetting. The bike idles like the choke is on. The low jet is a #58 so I`m going to try going down a notch or two till it idles halfway ok, plus the main is a #175. The jetting to try, according to FMF, (Gnarly pipe) is 172 for the dez. Guess I`ll be sorting out the bike on the first time out for a while. Gotta have a good running motor ya know. I`ve looked at the jetting thread here, lots of good info.
