Scott's steering damper opinions

(1/5) > >>

Polar-Bus:
Well, after this weekend, I am going to need a steering stabilizer on my 5. I tried dialing out the high speed headshake, and it's much better since I slid the forks down into the triple tree, but it's still unacceptable. I have seen the Scott's units on bikes, but never really looked closely at the install. Is it a big job on a 5? Thanks,

Piece of cake and worth every penny. The GPR just as good, comes in green and their customer service / support is second to none. I sold my Scotts before I sold the bike and when I get a replacement the green GPR is what I'm buying.

I've also had a ton of luck with my W.E.R. damper. It doesn't have a lifetime and is expensive for a damper. But I have 0 headshake right now and I like the fact that is nowhere near the handle bars.

I run a Scott's and I was amazed how well it works and I think it makes a large safety difference! I can justify anything in the name of protection my old body!:-D :-D

Danger4u2:
I have a Scott's damper setup for my bike also. For me there are only 2 things that are hard on the install. #1 the price.  #2 the weld on tower. That's why mine is not installed yet. I have a friend that will tig weld it for me. I need to make a convenient time to get together and he will tig weld it for me.
Other than the price and the welding it's easy to install. Gas tank is about the only thing you have to remove. Oh, change the handle bar mount with the Scott's mount. Plus you have to cut to length and file/grind to fit the shape where it gets welded.
I don't like the fact that it's on top of the bar either.  That's not a good handel bar pad. Scott's has changed their line up since I bought mine.  http://www.scottsperformance.com/dampacc-form.php?Type=dirt  They have an under bar mount now. I'll post some pictures in After market parts, link is below in my signature.
