110 or 120 on the KX5?

(1/2) > >>

Polar-Bus:
I seem to be getting some conflicting info on exactly what size rear tire is supposed to be on my '01. The .pdf kawi spec sheet calls for a 100 ?  (I seriously doubt that). There is a 120 on my bike now. I thought they cam std with a 110? What do you guys prefer? Has anyone experimented with different sizes?

gowen:
110 to my knowledge was stock. 120 is my preference.  100 is too small.

Paul:
I ran  140/100X18, great tire but heavy turning on the track. I prefer a 110 on the MX track.

agreed. I am thinking of stepping down to a 110 with a lower aspect ratio. I still have some front end headshake, and I think a lower profile rear will rid the bike of this frustrating occurance. Your not really going to have a "berm railing" machine with a KX500 anyway, so I am going for a more stable high speed handleing type of machine.

My KX used to rail berms like nobodys business. That was waaay before I started dumping in the big bucks. Also, you will never have good stabilazation unless you get a steering stabilizer. That is an absolute must if you are looking for top speed runs.
