Wassup guys I am new to this site and also own a 2001 KX500. I have no pics up yet of the beast but they will be coming soon. I have had this bike brand new since I was sixteen and currently still own it. Ive blown it up once in 03' and had the cylinder ported and polished and bored .20 over. It has an FMF Gnarly pipe, Boyeson Power Reeds, straight rear fender with graphics, pilot jet and main jet are also different. It gears at 14f and 45R, this thing will really scream at around 100mph with alot of ponies left.. Any tips on transmission maintenance becuz the Bel-Ray tranny oil isnt cutting it. I have raced alcohol fueled banshees and many other big bore bike such as the CR 500(stock), YZ490s, big bore huskies, and many sandrails nothing seems to catch me! Yes i am bragging on the 500
Ian.
BTW. awesome site

Long live the 500!

What problem are you having with BEL-RAY trans oil??  :?  I have been using ATF Type F with great result.

Welcome to the site. Glad to hear your kicking everybody around with your 500. This site has tons of great information and has helped me immensly.  I hope you get your trans problems sorted out. I have used Belray gearsaver and Spectro clutchsaver, with good results. Yesterday I changed to Dexron and have not ridden it yet.

Welcome to the site! but we already know the K5 is fairly quick

as for trans oil i have been using Domonde Tech, and came to this conclusion after tearing down and inspecting hundreds of motors.
it will cost some $$ but well worth it.

who?s sleeve did you use? are you having any issues with heat transfer?

Have fun kicking 4 stroke @$$
