Forks
steeldust:
Can anybody tell me how to adjust my forks? I have a set of forks on my bike they have the adjustment on the bottom but on the top they only have air bleed screws.
My old forks had the adjusters on the top and bottom both. Any ideas?
Timbowe:
The air caps in our old bikes used to be set with no pressure in them at all. We used to stand the bike up with no rider and expell all the air from the cap. But if you find this too soft (compression) pump a small amount into it. Carefully. 1 or 2 pounds. Bottom screws are rebound. Turn the screw all the way (carefully) untill the clicks stop. Then turn the oppisite way counting the clicks to the end. Halve the number and set there for a starting point. Adjust either way to suit. Or you could get really serious...

What year bike and or forks do you have??
steeldust:
The bike is a 95 I bought these forks off of ebay they were listed as 99 model forks. They fit perfect front brake and axle lines up great.

I would think your forks should have rebound control on top and compression control on bottom. Some new forks still have air bleeds on top but also have the rebound control to. Your forks sound like old school forks like bike has. Could the fork have some aftermarket parts on them??
