aftermarket subframe
gowen:
I like the AC racing subframe, but they are weak and will not withstand a loopback or accident like a stock one will. But if you have no plans on looping anytime soon, you should be good. LOL
Check ebay too for a used stock one, you can also find deals on ACs there too.
Ramski:
I've been through 2 AC subframes and bent both of them. Granted it took two loops to do it, but I think a stock steel unit wouldn't have done it. My current subframe is a steel aftermarket one that I bought from a guy that makes them and for the life of me, I can't remember the guys name or address now. The price was same as AC and it came in black powder coat. Super nice subframe and it barely gets in the way of the chain! :-D

I know the steel ones are out there, so if you remember where to get on let us know!
I will be set up to make my own in about 6 weeks Hmmmmmmmm! Stainless steel would be nice!

Ramski, does the guy who makes steel subs around you in CA City?
Can you dig up the contact info for this steel subframe maker for us?
Thanks

As far as I know mines bog standard and it's aluminium, the only standard steel ones I know of are older models than my 90, not sure of the cuttoff point though.
I know that the 86 model has a steel subframe.
