I never understood why people put all the engine modifications on these bikes and neglect the suspension. This thing is a land rocket if you get the suspension nailed down ;)

Congrats on getting it figured out and glad I could help. When I get another one we should head out to the White Tanks or up by MM11.

Hey I?m guilty of the ?engine mods before I take care of the suspension syndrome? too. I find myself thinking about the EG Mo-Better all over, (pump gas), porting all the time, it?s the hot rod side in all of us. Just can?t find someone around here that?s done it to a KX500. Wouldn?t want to lose any low end as that?s what makes it easy to ride. And eyeballing into the exhaust port, looks like I?ll need a top end soon.

Okay, you?re on! Just let me know when you get a bike. I?m out in Surprise so both MM11 and the Tanks are close by. One thing I did notice on the Tanks is more closures; not a big thing as I wasn?t crazy about the spot they closed; south side of Bell, where the mountains meet the road. Too crowded, shooters everywhere, with houses getting closer by the day. Just a few miles further, plenty of open space for now and if you go to MM120 there?s the Hassayampa; you can ride just about any direction with the Vulture Mountains close by for a 500!

Alan, that amazes me. I saw that picture of you riding without a helmet/shirt on on a old "macco?" or something like that. That blows my mind. I think it is awesome.

Yep, that was the first 501 Maico in in the state of texas in 1971! I raced it three time 3rd ,2nd and hospital and didn't walk for 2 years! The no shirt pic's were Yamaha SC500 great desert bike for their time and before mono shock days!
