Hughes, good idea would be to ask your friendly paint shop weather your clear coat will be compatible with the type of paint that you have applied to your frame. Some differing paint types can have serious reactions when applied over other paints. The dreaded FRY UP. Very ugly stuff. Would be a right prick to have to strip it all back and start over!!!   :x
