Hey Dudes,

Anybody know where I can get a lighting coil for my 87 500. I have seen lighting coils for newer 500's but not sure way they would not fit on my 87 500's stator plate. Any idea's

The '87 and the '89-'05's have the same ignition plate and so forth. YOu should have no problems.

Thanks for the info guy's. After looking at these light coils I am wondering where they mount. I have two ignition coils know on my stator plate. Does the lighting coil go in between the other two? Do I need to drill and tap some holes on the stator plate?

Hey Hughes, I read somewhere that a few of the older year models had lighting coils from the factory. That was one thing I didn't save and can't remember where I saw it. If you look at the tech page for the L31 coil it only shows one ignition coil and one light coil. Yours might be one of the years.
