head gasket thickness

I am sending my head off to have a compression release installed. I need to know what thickness head gasket to buy? Do I just measure the thickness of the one that I remove, or do I need to allow for some compression of a new one? I am not in search of additional power due to it having plenty for my riding ability now. :-D I am just trying to keep everything exactly like it is now. THANKS for any help
