1998 kx250 output shaft
« on: April 04, 2019, 06:51:12 AM »
Recently broke a tooth off my output shaft after sprocket broke.  Cant find a decent shape output shaft off a 98 or 97 to replace with. Found a 99 but the part number is different. Only difference I can see is the number of teeth at the end of the shaft for the sprocket. Anyone else know if it will still work in a 98? Thanks

if you can compare them side by side and the only difference is spline count , it will work, buy the shaft and let us all know if it doesn't resell it. the coarse splines were out , I just fitted one of mine k5 with a brand new shaft as it had a lot of sprocket movement and couldn't bare it any longer.

I swapped a 99 trans into some 98 cases.
Everything swapped over with no issues but I did swap the entire trans.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Ok awesome. I'll prolly buy the 99 shaft and see if it fits. If not just sell it and keep looking. Really wanna avoid welding the sprocket to the old shaft.
