'04 KX 125 project
« on: October 17, 2018, 10:00:13 AM »
Picked up an '04 KX 125 for a decent price. Look like they PO put a new top end, cylinder, and head on and the bottom end let go shortly after. Should be a fun project to help pass the time until I can ride. Frame and swing arm go to powder coat tomorrow. Think I will do a matte black. Suspension should be back in a few days and when I get the wrench rabbit kit I will have the motor rebuilt.

I will have some take off parts if anyone is interested. Levers, plastics, Works connection axle clocks, some Tusk items, etc..
Some pics of tear down so far

I have an '03 and an '05 also. My '05 is apart and slowly rebuilding it here and there. Too many house projects to spend time and money on. Had the frame powdercoated metallic silver and clearcoat powdercoat. Engine is rebuilt and I'm currently replacing some of the bearings and rebuilding the front brake piston assembly. Fork seals are next.
I basically do fast trail riding these days and I like the low-end power and light weight my '05 has.
There's a rebuild project on https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/2005-KX125-Build,1295539 and someone on this forum has '04 rebuild as well.

Enjoy your rebuild.
