Back on track..
« on: December 27, 2009, 08:47:05 AM »
Hi All,
Finally I'm back on track! After have been with out a MX bike for 20 years, I found what I have been looking for. A KX500 -89 in good condition. When I was racing before, I had YZ125 -82, YZ125 -83, KX500 -83, KX500 -85, KX500 -87. So it's perfect with a -89 now.. Due to that we move to a house of our own in -89 and some kids arrived, there was no time for MX. But now there is time again! Every thing is prepared for the comming season this summer. Since I live in Sweden it's cold and rainy right now.. Not so nice when you would like to drive just for fun.. But then I have time to do other preparations. Need some "fine tuning" after 20 years with out riding..   :-D

A picture of my "new" bike.

 Swede-K5,
There are lots of us who have been away from riding for a long time and now are back. :-D
It's difficult to explain to someone who never rode what great stress reliever a bike can be.
All they want to talk about how dangerous it is.   Glad you are back, and you are in good company!

That are great pictures Swe_K5 (Peter??).  Realy like the blue numberplates, remembers me off Hakan, Nicoll , Namur and Ettelbruck.

Good to see an old rider back in the seat!!

Thats a great looking bike, my guess is it's either newer than an 89 or somebody changed the forks. The 89 was the last year of the right side up forks.

Think there is a difference on bike in europe and US. According to the serialnumber it's a -89. Other pictures of bikes from that year also have this fork. Maybe they used europe as a test  :-)

Very nice looking bike. Welcome back to riding and to this excellent site. Tons of nice people here willing to help or just tell stories. I just recently got back into riding as well. After 9 years I couldn't take not having a bike anymore.
Cheers
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

Great looking bike! I always liked the blue euro side panels. Yes, the europeans got the upside down forks in 89. The US got 46mm conventionals. 90 was the 1st year for the US to get USDs.
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
