Hello ladies and gents, im new to the site and this will be the first post even but i have recently picked up a rough looking 1989 KX250 from a buddy who needed cash so i relieved him of it for $500(Canadian) after running the carb threw the ultrasonic for a couple hours and blowing it all out i got it all back together just to find when leaving the slide and cable hanging on the bike it must have got in somewhere the needle got bent, BUT good news after some careful work i got it straight enough to get it in the bike and get the bike running, im wondering which carb kits from which years will fit the 87-89 carbs. i ONLY need the needle and soem of the extra jets other then that i dont care if the bowl gasket is different or not i just really only need the needle.   the second question is if my frame says 1989 kx250G and my engine case says kx250EE would that make my engine an 87 not and 89? i aks as i know the vins should somewhat match although it dont matter to me just need to know for parts sourcing info, Thanks for ANY info you can give me

87 is  a Mikuni.
88 is a KEIHIN PWK V398
89 is a KEIHIN PWK V464

Nobody makes a kit as far as I know.
www.jetsrus.com should have everything you need.
Or, put your carb on a shelf and get yourself a 38mm air striker carb.
It is far superior.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Yeah don't ride it with that bent needle.  I found out the hard way in my younger years when I straightened a bent one and rode it for awhile before it struck at wot and i looped out!

it was not bent super crazy just the very first 5mm of the tip got pushed over abit but after some very careful work with a soft jewelers hammer a flay piece of wood it almost came out straight. i would rather just replace it(needle) and just be done with it, are the needle sizes and general profiles the same threw out the years?

I'll research later.
First, look at the side of your carb.
Is it a KEIHIN PWK V464?
