sandblaster:
Your right...
It's why I have not replied as I have not done a 85..
86 and up have 3 marks as shown in my pic.
That's easy... Middle mark...
Yours?
If I had to guess, just like you have it in the pic... Right in the middle... But it's only a guess...

Thanks for the reply sandblaster. I am going to try and center it, then and see what happens. I can't find anything else online on how to set it. really wish the manual covered it.

Foxx4Beaver:
have you tried calling a Kawie dealer and talking with one of the service techs?...you might not get an accurate answer, but it's worth a shot...even if you call a few different ones from different areas.
I've even e-mailed Kawie and Honda directly before in the past, to get answers that not even my local dealers could find.

A more accurate way would be to put it in the middle which will make it run then put a timing light on it when its running and adjust it from there. nice thing about the smaller flywheels on the earlier models is you can adjust the stater timing with out removing the flywheel each time.

I wish that last part was true, but it is still not adjustable with the flywheel installed. Covers the entire plate behind it. Called the kawi dealer, he said to adjust it in the center like sandblaster said to do and go from there
