93 kx500 rear axle mod?
alexander-vmann:
i had the rear wheel of to change the swingarm bearings, to begin with it was a bitch to get the rear axle out of the hub, and a bitch to get in back in, the reason begin (i think) is becuse the axle is not original it appears that it is a simple bolt with a nut glued on one end, what and why it is on the bike is probably something the original ovner knows or the theif that stole it (yes my bike has history)
ANYWAY: do anyone know a axle that will fit my 93 kx500? i figuerd some other years will probably fit but how about kx250f/kx450f axle's? would they fit and even be better for some reason? many thank for ALL reply's

The 250f and 450f axles are too big of diameter.

maybe its just something with the 93's. my 93's axle is a tight sob to get in and out as well . so i just swapped it with the one off my 95 and it slips in and out no problem. . i may be mistaken but i believe they are exactly the same axle. maybe my 93's has a slight bend to it. now the front axle is not the same story at all. i had to put the whole front end from my 95 on the 93 because i liked the 95's front brake set up better than the 93's. but i do like the blue shock towers.for what its worth though the two axles from the 95 and the 93 are identical. at least the ones i have are. hope that helps...

A bent axle, crusty wheel bearings, or crusty axle can make it a real job to remove.
Clean it up and check with a straight edge,,
