Frame question

Hi all.
New to the forum and just got myself a 87 KX500.

First stupid question is........... where would the frame number be?(r/h headstock perhaps) Frame has been painted with very thick paint so before I try scratching it off I thought I would ask here.

Second stupid question is...... engine number whereabouts. I know where I expect it to be but I think it may have been removed :shock:  . any tell tales e.g smooth finish or rough finish as standard.

My 87 has the serial number on the headstock(steering stem) right where the triple tree  stem goes through. Engine numbers I have no clue.
