fuel pouring out overflow tubes when I switch on the gas at the tank?!?!?!

Sometimes even tapping the float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver can be enough to allow the needle to get seated properly.
Even if that screwdriver trick works though its still worth cleaning the carb properly when you get the time.

I did that for a year, along with replacing float valves, and it did work!...but, being the original carb from 95, and having a lot of time on it, the seat was just too far gone...so, after already spending nearly $8k on my build, I figured what was another $300...so I chose the easy way, and just bought a brand new carb...no more tears! :-D
