changing fork seals
(1/1)
fast500#12:
i've got a blown fork seal and i have never pulled apart forks. is there any thing that i have to look out for when i take it a part?

I think Cam posted this, but try pulling the dust seal down and run a piece of 35mm film or a stiff business card between the fork tube and seal.I use WD-40 at the same time to help flush dirt out,it may just be dirt and not a bad seal.
Rick:
Yup, cleaning the fork seal can save you $ and time. Doesn't always work, but worth a try. I use carb cleaner or brake cleaner to clean the seal while inserting a thin card under the lip.
As for taking the fork apart, I'll write a quick instruction post tonight to help. Not really that tough. Keep checking the site for my post.
