Hi Guys & Girls.

I'm 27 years old, live in Herefordshire. I'm a big motocross fan, raced in my previous years managed to ride a few AMCA championship rounds back in 2011. I currently ride a 2014 KTM 450 EXC 6Days edition (first and last time I'll mention ktm on here I promise).
The reason for joining the forum is I've always loved Kawasaki MX bikes, I raced a KXF 450 2010 and loved it. My dream bike growing up was Emigs KX 250.
My girlfriends younger brother has had a 1998 KX 250 sitting in his garage in bits for years, each time I ask him whats happening with it he just replies "ahhhhhh I'll do it up one day" and to my surprise the other day he handed it over to me and said "here you go, you'll do a better job than me"  :-D :-D So here we are............

Sorry about the S**t filter it was the only pic I have of it on my phone. #instagram

Its all there, wheels, forks, plastics, tank ect ect.

I've already pulled the motor out for an overhaul  :-D Looking forward to it.

Any upgrades or comments on this model would be greatly received, I might do a project thread on this if I get time.

Cheers

Carl

Welcome Carl to the best Kawasaki MX web forum on the net!
The 98 kx250 was bike of the year for a good reason.... It kicked butt.
Post lots of pics of your build.
Upgrades?
Get your suspension done correctly for your weight and riding conditions.
All other upgrades will depend on what you want to do with it.

Welcome! Nice score! Good of him to turn over the project to you. Hope you do not get any expensive surprises. Course, you can put some cash into it for what you paid!  :-D  What was the main issue when he parked it?

The 98 was hands down my favorite 250. I felt like they detuned it after that. Awesome project

He was going to restore it as it was getting a bit run down but never got around to it. I dropped the oil out of the motor last night, it came out like glitter  :-o not good!! I decided to whip the clutch cover off just to have a look. To my surprise one of the clutch springs and bolt was missing, on further inspection the inner hub has been damaged. The lug that the bolt would thread into is completely missing, therefore allowing the clutch basket to rub against the clutch cover casing, hence all the glitter in my oil!! I think I'll split the motor have clean up and replace the bearings.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys  :-D
