taming of the shrew(i.e, green monster).
« on: February 24, 2014, 04:44:27 PM »
hello there, my name is Roger, and I'm a Libra. Ha.
After putting up without a dirt bike for years(10), typical of me I jumped in the deep end and bought a pretty clean 99 kx500.
My good friend Mike encouraged this, for the comic relief I'm sure.
while I'm putting tires, fork seal's and grease in the proper places, I would really like some tuning suggestions for smooth low to mid power delivery.
It has been strongly suggested that I keep the fmf fatty pipe, add a vforce reed cage, carbon low to mid reed's and jet it per the chart.
Does anyone have any further input to keep my new toy from dancing on my face(re: sending me for a loop), and making me it's bitch?
Any input would be greatly appreciated, like must do mods and such.

Thanks
the Rog (in over his head as usual).

Hey Rog.
I will be no help at all as I am not mechanically inclined but I do know that you've come to the right place.
I've used the search option several times and found great discussions on many topics.
I've even changed out my rear fender to give the bike a cleaner line and just finished  putting on a new radiator.
Even basic stuff like oil changes are covered.
The kx 5ers are smooth, strong power.   Welcome.    Love the ride.   Enjoy.
