I am going to teardown and rebuild my front forks this hoilday on my 87 kx500. Before I start I can not find and info on what style of forks I am working with. Damping rod or cartridge style? I am sure somebody here should know any help would be great. Thanks

I found what I was looking for these forks are damping rod style. But here's my problem :!:  I removed the top cap along with two collar or spaces for the spring and a sleeve and then the spring. Next came the valve assembly(not the lower ajustable one at the bottom). Before I removed the cylinder valve with the impact I tried to seperate the two fork legs. I am pushing in one of the fork tubes about 6-8 inches and snapping it back against the oil seal, dust seal, and bushing. I can not seperate the two fork legs, it's like the interference fit between the two fork legs and bushing is stuck. Any tips :?:  :waving:

Thanks for the website. Couldn't find anything that I needed. Still having problems with the interference fit between the fork legs. I was thinking about carefuly prying the seals and letting the bushing soak in some penetrating oil   What do ya'll think. Also has anybody made their own seal driver and if so how and what did you use :?:  Is the lower cylinder valve a 14mm hex :?: Thanks
