VForce 2 reed valve installation.
sandblaster:
Seems simple enough.
After I knocked the ears off the stock boot I saw a huge difference in the openings of the boot and the reed.
You can see the difference in yellow:
Since the air is being drawn in under vacuum and not be driven in under pressure it seems to me that it isn't that critical.
Yet, I can't help but wonder if there is some performance to be gained by cleaning this up a bit.
Any suggestions?
Also, I bought my reeds used and have no directions. I could not find any directions over at Moto Tassinari either.
So, does anybody know if the reed pedal clamp needs to be all the way toward the carb for high tension or is that low tension?
I would think that all the way toward the carb would make it harder for the pedals to open as there is more leverage against them thereby making that setting high tension but I have been wrong too many times to do what my first inclination tells me :-)
Note how the reed pedal clamp is slotted...

80 grit roll-loc on a porting tool / die grinder & you can clean up the extra rubber real easy. I also use an 80 grit belt sander instead of a saw / knife to cut ears off the manifold. Works pretty good in my experience.
sandblaster:
Thanks for that...
My Dremel should make short work of the inside.
I even have a spare laying around in my junk piles in case I mess it up :-)
Yeah I planned on cleaning up the face of boot on a 18" sanding disc but can't till Monday. :-(
Any idea on high tension vs. low tension?

Use the boot end opening for a template?
