Plastic reed insert?

I just re-ringed my k5 and was wondering what that plastic insert thing is called in the reed cage? Also mine is all distorted so I put it together without it. Will that really affect how it runs?

its call the reed stuffer . yes it will affect flow, you really need it in there for max performance but will run with out
