Air Box Cover
doordie:
Hi Guys!
You don?t race in wet overthere I supose, only in sand(glamis).
I got one to,maybe is the euromodel of kx500 who got it?
But I use only mine if it?s VERY much water/mud.
You can drill a pair of holes in the airbox highup, to let more
air in.(post some pic later)
I think the airbox is way to small for a kx500!
(Kx250 1988-90 got the same airbox)
When I race Iceroadracing, I have a KN-filter attach direct to carb...
(look at my gallery page 2).
Got some more HP at full throttle.

--- Quote from: KXcam22 ---The only Kaw that I ever saw with an airbox lid was the KDX200.....which you promptly threw away to get more power. Is this maybe an option or a Euro feature (Hey Folke?) we didn't get in North America? Cam.

We got KX5-03 USA mod.and there is an airbox lid on this machine but i can give you articleno. so you can check with your dealer.
For KX5 -87 is it 14024-1360
For KX5 88-04 is it 14024-1561.
I hope you meen the plastic between airbox and under the tank.
KXcam22:
Folke,
I might be getting all confused here. My KX has a white plastic air guide that directs air from under the tank, but it ends about 3" after the tank and does not cover the airbox. I haven't considered this to be a cover. The KDX cover I speak of is an actual black plastic cover with a rubber snorkel in it that goes over the entire top hole of the air box. When you remove the seat, the cover is right there over the airbox and must be removed to access the filter. Keeps water out but restricts airflow. My wifes XR200 had one, which we promptly threw away to gain a fair bit more power. Cam.
hughes:
Folke, That is the the same cover I am talking about. the part number was 14024-1357 I guess I 'll just use this cover for wet rides.
doordie:
KXcam22,
One(kx5) is white, thin and smal and the other(kdx) is black, thick and bigger!
