Will an 88 250 shock fit a 1990 KX 500?

Hi guys,

I have a 90 KX 500 with a leaking shock and have been offered an 88 KX 250 shock that has been overhauled.
They look the same anybody know if it will fit and handle ok??
I was going to get mine revalved but if this fitted it would be a lot cheaper!!

No. The bottom part is different. It's a male end .
89+ has a female end

I didn't notice that.  I guess I will be rebuilding mine after all.
